It was only three months ago that this room was a black, depressing hole. Black curtains, black striped wallpaper, a grey carpet and you guessed it, dark coloured curtains too. In just three months, I feel like I have turned this room into exactly what I imaged and dreamed before we moved here, and Im so pleased with how everything has turned out!
After hanging the lanterns, I bought a vintage cage, bulb and wire from eBay. We had to call out an electrician out to re-wire the light fitting, but the whole thing still cost a fraction of the price than if I had bought the light from a decor shop.
Before we moved, I had this old, pine bedside table on eBay to sell for £35. Boy, am I glad nobody snapped it up! I thought I’d paint it white just to see how it looked since I had some paint left over and I fell in love with it all over again – it looked so different than it did wooden. The vintage knobs were all purchased from Anthropologie.
Im wanting to collect some old, vintage style picture frames for a main feature wall to put some old time images of loved ones and and array of memorable quotes inside – I think thats the only thing left to do!
Im loving how the contrast of whites and bright colours in the room ‘lifts’ everything.
This gold metal bird cage from Urban Outfitters was another piece I had on eBay that didn’t sell (thankfully!). It was bought a number of years ago, and I never found a place for it. When I discovered the same piece on Pintrest a few days ago, a light bulb when on and I knew instantly that it would look perfect on my side wall with polaroid pictures clipped to it, and of course, my film cameras too!
Stay tuned for the next Decorating Series! I have just started on my office – think vintage material buying, flee marketing scouring, chair upholstering and a possible tutorial too!
