I have a dreamy whimsical dessert for you today. A simplistic bowl of soy your combined with the jewelled fruit combined beautifully for a fresh exotic dessert or snack.
While Im sat here uploading and editing images, I have a to-do list that is hanging on my refrigerator door along with a calendar that has been scribbled on to the point of demolition. The end of summer is approaching and I have way to much to do before my course starts in September. The end of the summer term always gets frantically busy and my heart skips a beat every time I think about the craziness that next year will bring. Well, the tidings of autumn always bring good times and there is always something to look forward to. More breezy moonlit nights, the purchase of new cosy winter jumpers and jackets, and of course, the autumn fruit – pears, blueberries, plums…
I picked up a pot of this (extra creamy) Sojade Soy yogurt in my local health food store and its been sitting in the back of my fridge for over a week. I thought about preparing with it over a week ago, but for some reason the flavours and toppings I thought of just didn’t excite me enough. I wanted something exotic but non of them struck the right chord. At times I miss the old rustic farmers markets back in Cheshire to spark my imagination – some things just aren’t the same since living down here, you know? Yet, I kept pondering, and yesterday the warmth of the sun drew me to one of the (
not-quite-the-same-but-it-would-do) stalls selling local organic produce in Brighton and I bought some fresh figs, passion fruits and pomegranates.
I sat on the bus, on the way home with three brown paper bags of Organic produce and thought, “You know, I was a real 90’s kid!“.
Peeking in the paper bag at those pomegranates, there was a little de ja vu. Sitting on the wall as seven year old, kicking our skinny little legs during summer of ’98 eating pomegranates with pins, those tiny pink globes staining our shorts, t-shirts and faces. We treated these fruits like candy. Oh, how I miss those days!
So here you have it.
